Now, I’m not sure about you but when authors use ambiguous names it really gets on my nerves, for example:
- Sam and Alex
- Billie and Jamie
It would be okay if one name was ambiguous and the other was normal:
- Sam and Helen
- Jamie and Bob
Bob’s such an awesome name don’t you think? It’s one of those classic names though I’m not sure how well they fare as main characters, but if there was an uncle Bob then everything works out fine… Anyway back to the ambiguousness, it takes like half the book to work out which is the girl and which is the boy, do authors just think they can get away with it? Because no, it doesn’t work, we can see it!
It’s seriously annoying if it’s in a good book, because there you are thinking “Wow, this book is amazing,” but you’re also there going “If only I knew if this person was a girl or a boy…”
Anyway, that’s all I wanted to say…So bye everyone! Hope you read well!
